AOK, The Fine Print
We appreciate
the confidence you have placed in our practice for your
Advanced Orthokeratology (AOK) treatment and care.
Our doctors and staff have invested a great deal of time,
equipment and training in order to bring you the most advanced
lenses, equipment and experience in AOK services.
The time and degree of improvement for any specific case
is difficult to determine. This is due to individual variations
in tissue response. Therefore, a specific guarantee of outcome
is not possible. No warrantee or guarantee is made by this
clinic regarding degree, rate or quality of change for AOK.
However, to assure your satisfaction with AOK as a treatment
option, we’d like to outline the following policies
of our office.
No Charge Consultation. Myopia can always be reduced with
AOK but by how much depends upon the shape and curvature
of the eye. If you have had a comprehensive eye health and
vision exam within the last year, we are able, with our topographer,
to give you an idea of whether AOK is a viable option or
not. If the measurements clearly indicate that you are not
a candidate, we won’t be wasting your time, or ours.
If initial measurements indicate you are a candidate then
we’ll proceed to a more thorough evaluation.
One Night Free Trial. Accurate measurements with the topographer
can only be made after several days without contact lens
wear. If you have been wearing soft lenses, they must be
out for three days prior to this exam. If you have been wearing
rigid gas permeable or hard lenses, they must be out for
at least one week, and perhaps longer. Our goal with the
overnight trial is twofold. One, to measure your response
to the lenses, to confirm that you are a candidate, and that
our measurements are accurate. And two, to demonstrate to
you the remarkable improvement that is typically achieved
with only one night of wear. If you and your optometrist
agree to continue, then we move to the next step.
Continued Trial. In most cases, more than one night of trial
lens wear is required to determine the ideal lens. In order
for us to continue our commitment, we require a $450 deposit towards your AOK fee. Once all of the necessary eye measurements
are confirmed, customized lenses will be ordered.
Final Lens Order. Every single AOK lens is unique, they
can not be used by anyone else. To order the final lenses,
our total fee is $1800. Less the deposit of $450, means the
balance of $1350 is due at the time of ordering (currently
no taxes apply to prescription contact lenses). Even with
the final order, if further refinements require additional
lenses, no extra fees will apply. Once the lenses are known
to be performing as expected, an additional spare pair is
included. Once you are wearing your AOK lenses full time,
you will not want to be caught without a proper pair of spare
lenses!
30 Day Refund Policy. If you are not completely satisfied
with the results of your AOK within 30 days of delivery of
your first AOK lenses, you will receive a full refund less
the non-refundable deposit of $450.
90 Day Refund Policy. If you are not completely satisfied
with the results of your AOK lenses within 90 days of delivery
of your first pair, our practice will agree to provide complete
pre and post-operative care for laser refractive surgery
(PRK or LASIK). Or you may choose to put your credit of $500
towards any other product or service in our office.
Your AOK treatment fee includes all professional services
and material deemed necessary by the doctor for this therapy
over a period of one year. This includes the trial AOK lenses,
temporary daytime soft lenses if necessary during the fitting
process, customized lenses as needed to achieve a satisfactory
outcome, and a spare pair. After the first year, customary
fees will apply.
Appointments are made at specific intervals to accomplish
definite aims. Missing appointments may dramatically interfere
with treatment progress and prolong treatment time beyond
the usual period. This may incur additional charges to you.
Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need
to re-schedule your appointment.
During the first year, replacement lenses are $165 each.
After the first year, replacements are $225 each. Our AOK
Complete Care Program is available after the first year for
$149 per year for adults, $99 for children. This program
gives you a comprehensive eye exam including topography,
as many contact lens related visits as you require, and replacement
lenses at $175 instead of $225.
